SWIM INSTRUCTOR

DSC_0094A swim instructor’s primary responsibility is to deliver instruction to students of aquatic programming. Ideal candidate will have experience as a teacher and competitive swimmer. American Red Cross WSI and Lifeguard certifications are preferred, but not essential. Patience, enthusiasm and positive reinforcement teaching skills required. Experience as a school teacher and special education background is a plus.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
– Prepare lesson and work with fellow instructors to maintain curriculum consistency.
– Supervise students during lesson; ensure student safety while in the water.
– Communicate with parents about student progress and requirements for success.
– Full and part time hours available, seven days a week.
– Schedule will be discussed at interview.

Applicant must have knowledge of:
– Mission Valley Aquatics’ vision and fundraising efforts.
– Local history, demographics and diversity.

Applicant must have skills including:
– Understanding and interpreting regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must know how to swim.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Current Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. Interest in obtaining Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification and swim team coaching positions. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees and general public.

LIFEGUARD

Lifeguard_FEATUREDA lifeguard’s primary responsibility is to ensure patron safety and protect lives. *Daytime availability preferred.

– Supervise patrons of the aquatic center.
– Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
– Enforce facility rules and regulations and educate patrons about them.
– Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
– Complete accident reports and submit them to the proper person.
– Keep pool decks and locker rooms clean and safe for patrons.

Aquatic Center Maintenance Technician
Part Time, 10-20 hours/week
Mission Valley Aquatics is a state-of-the-art, community-oriented aquatic facility located on the shores of the beautiful Flathead Lake in the heart of the Mission Mountains in Northwest Montana. Job Description: Maintenance Technician will provide pool and facility maintenance at Mission Valley Aquatics (MVA). Experience with pools and/or aquatic facilities is a plus, but will not be a necessity as training can be provided. Experience as water operator a plus as well as experience with plumbing, HVAC and other trades. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Work hours may be flexible. Possibility of increasing weekly hours and expansion of duties, dependent upon interest and experience.
Salary: Starting at $15-$19 per hour, commensurate upon experience.
Hours may vary based upon time of year and seasonal maintenance needs.
Essential Functions:
● Serve as an engaged and active participant as part of a team at Mission Valley Aquatics.
● Operates, repairs, maintains, and cleans mechanical equipment for pool operation including water filtration and chemical purification systems, intake and outlet valves, chemical feeders, pumps, compressors, seals, vacuum equipment, and chlorine metering devices
● Test pool water, complete water inspections and add necessary chemicals, such as chlorine to ensure compliance and fulfill safety and sanitation needs of the facility
● Complete routine maintenance to keep the facility running in an efficient and safe manner. Maintenance of MVA facility may include basic HVAC (changing filters, etc.) and electrical (changing light bulbs, etc.) as well as basic repairs to facility
● Inventory equipment and supplies to ensure maintenance is completed on-schedule
● Report problems and issues to manager and keep detail-oriented records ● Work independently and communicate well with team members
● Prepares equipment specifications for purchases and bids; oversees and inspects contracted work; prepares and maintains work requests, facility reports, and pool service and other reports.
● Other duties as directed by the Aquatic Director. Qualifications:
● High School or equivalent
● Experience with plumbing, electrical and HVAC a plus
● Mechanically inclined
● Attention to detail
● Honest, reliable, courteous and team player
● Able to lift 50 lbs. and occasionally walk 30-50 yards with equipment and products
● CPO (certified pool operator) certified or willing to obtain within three months of employment
● Drug free with ability to pass background check and/or criminal history check
● At least 18 years of age

Marketing & Membership Manager

PART TIME, $11.50-$14.00 hourly

The Mission Valley Aquatics (MVA) vision is to provide a state-of-the-art aquatic facility that enhances the health, fitness, safety, recreation and quality of life for all in the Mission Valley. The pools accommodate a variety of programs, such as youth and adult competitive swimming, recreational swimming, swim lessons for all ages, water safety instruction, senior fitness, physical therapy/rehabilitation and family fun.

Position Description: This position will be responsible for all areas related to facility membership and management including but not limited to- records management, payment and billing for memberships, maintaining membership database, fee maintenance and scheduling of aquatic and fitness classes and programs. Responsible for marketing for the facility- Facebook, social media, website creation and maintenance and at times representing MVA at community events. The correct candidate for this position will be engaging, motivated, team-centered, positive and community-oriented. This position will oversee all operations at the front desk including supervising front desk employees and will report directly to the Executive Director. Starting wage for this position will range between $11.50 to $14.00 per hour commensurate upon experience. This position is an hourly PART TIME position with the option of up to 35 hours per week.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Executive Director with creating a culture that provides excellent service to clients and that builds and fosters positive relationships with external partners including schools, non-profit organizations, units of government, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, USA Swimming and other swimming and fitness-focused organizations and a variety of other partners.
  • Manage, supervise and train all front desk staff
  • Oversee financial transactions and administrative functions
  • Assist Executive Director in scheduling staff
  • Complete payroll reports for the facility
  • Ensure membership billing is organized, accurate and completed in a timely manner
  • Complete general accounting procedures for the facility including billing using QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Manage point-of-sale software system including keeping up-to-date billing and communications with clients
  • Manage and update social media accounts and website for the facility and assist with creating and disseminating all types of communication from the facility to our partners, clients and media
  • Assist in outreach events and collaboration within the local community to promote MVA and our programming
  • Ensure that all front desk functions are carried out in clean, safe and efficient ways while adhering to MVA policies and procedures
  • Attend all Board of Director meetings, draft agenda, take minutes and provide reports as requested.
  • Other duties as directed by the Executive Director or required for the overall success of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Management Experience Preferred
  • Currently certified or willing to become certified first aid/CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Ability to pass background check and/or criminal history check
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft suite, email, QuickBooks/financial software experience a plus
  • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, staff and clients
