Save the Date! Swim Team Info Meeting April 27

DSC_2027Save the date! A Lake Monsters Summer Swim Team informational meeting will take place Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. in the aquatic center community room.

It is important that ALL interested parties attend this meeting. We are in the process of determining practice times and other resource commitments (coaches, lane space, meets, events, etc.), and we need to get a good handle on our overall participation.

The following will be discussed:

  • Summer Practice Schedule (starts June 16)
  • Summer Meet Schedule
  • Summer Event Schedule (Water Daze and others)

The pool is open during the meeting, so bring your kids and they can swim during the meeting if they wish!

Lake Monsters Team Information

If you are ready to take your swimming to the next level, JOIN THE SUMMER LAKE MONSTERS!

Children age 6-18 are invited to join our USA competitive swim team, provided they are ready to train and compete. Swimmers will practice in groups based upon age and ability. New members should be able to swim the length of the pool of freestyle (with side breathing) and backstroke. If there is a question about your ability, please talk to the coaching staff.

Summer Lake Monsters (June 16 through August 23) costs are as follows:

New Lake Monsters (not previously on the team): $200 for the season includes 2014 USA-Swimming Membership, Team T-Shirt and swim cap (while supply lasts) and entry fees for all home swim meets. Sign up early to take advantage of the T-shirt and swim cap offer!

Returning Lake Monsters (previously enrolled): $125 for the season and includes entry fees for all home swim meets.

Continuing Lake Monsters (currently enrolled): $45/mo. for the season, includes preseason (June 2-13) and entry fees for all home meets.

All Lake Monsters are required to have an Annual Swim Pass to the Mission Valley Aquatic Center.

Participants are expected to wear competition-style swim attire (including goggles and caps). Team suits cost $27-50 depending on style and gender. Away meet fees are typically $15-40 and the team expects to compete in three to four meets this summer. Home meets are included with your summer membership.

If you’re not quite ready for the Lake Monsters, consider enrolling in the MVA summer lesson program to learn to swim better and gain the necessary skills. Follow this link to learn more about the lesson program.
